We are a group of English language schools. We are accredited by the British Council and members of English UK. These are the marks you can trust to give you an excellent experience when you book your course in one of our schools.

We are all in the south of England in the counties of Hampshire and Dorset. It is a region rich in English history with castles, cathedrals and two of the UK’s UNESCO World Heritage sites – the Jurassic Coast and Stonehenge & Avebury.

Our schools are committed to developing their teams through English UK South training events. We never stand still in working to make our schools the best they can be. You can choose an English UK South school with confidence that they will care for you, listen to you and work hard to give you an unforgettable experience of studying English in the south of the UK.

Whatever your age, English UK South can provide an English language course to suit you. We have every course type on offer:

  • English for juniors

  • English for adults

  • English examination courses

  • IELTS courses

  • University preparation courses

  • Business English courses

  • Executive courses

  • Teacher training courses

and more are all on offer at English UK South schools.

We know what we are doing. We have some of the longest established schools in the UK in our region. We use that experience to provide the courses you need. Schools in our region produce teachers who write English coursebooks, vocabulary books, grammar books, IELTS and business English books.

We have 8 universities in cities and towns in the region offering you a full range of higher education courses. Our school counsellors can help you with finding the university course you want anywhere in the UK, if it’s not here in the south.

Whatever you want to see in your spare time, it’s in the region or very close by:

  • The Jurassic Coast

  • Bournemouth bay’s 11-kilometre beach

  • Winchester’s cathedral & links to King Alfred

  • Salisbury’s attractions

  • Southampton’s maritime history and HMS Titanic

  • Portsmouth’s historic dock yard

  • the New Forest

  • the Purbeck Hills

  • Cranborne Chase’s area of outstanding natural beauty

Our schools run excursions to London with the must-see Madame Tussauds/Harry Potter Studios/Buckingham Palace and dozens of other venues.

Simon has been working in the English Language Teaching sector for the past 42 years. In July 2018, he retired from his last full-time post as Principal of a Bournemouth language school. As well as holding senior management positions in both private and state sector ELT, Simon spent 6 years working for the national association English UK and one of its founder organisations ARELS. Simon was the first Deputy Chief Executive, Professional Services at English UK. In addition to arranging training days and conferences for the national membership, Simon also worked closely with British Council colleagues on the British Council’s Accreditation Scheme Advisory Committee, giving him an in-depth understanding of how Accreditation UK provides a quality guarantee for international students. Simon was delighted to be asked to chair English UK South and is keen to bring his experience to bear in providing marketing and training opportunities to the regional group’s members.
